Shivratri Vtk Puja
In this presentation, Shivratri Puja is presented in a simplified way to abet understanding among those interested in it. Vtk Puja is usually performed by Kashmiri Pandits on Phalgun Krishna Paksha Dvadashi. Sometimes it may fall on Tryodashi.  It is actually performed on Shivratri eve. Hindus elsewhere celebrate Shivratri on Triyodadhi or Chaturdashi

Kashmiri Pandit’s worship Bhairwa Vtknath and hence the worship is called Vtk pujaBhairwa as per Kashmir Shaivism is a being, who through his saddhna has risen to a status of Bhairwa - just next to Lord Shiva in granting boons to devotees. Eight Bhirwas have achieved that status so far, for whom there are eight dedicated temples in Kashmir. Vtknath Bhairwa is one of them. Hence, on this day Kashmiri Pandits worship Vataknath Bhairwa in the presence of Lord Shiva and Parvati along with Shiv Ganas (attendants).
